This term we have decided to introduce the grade 2’s to Aussie Nibbles, small fiction books. The books have between one and twelve small chapters and are the next step up to picture books. The writing is quite large and the books still have illustrations. It’s a nice easy to way to ease the students into reading fiction books.
Our first Aussie Nibbles author is Ursula Dubosarsky…
She is a talented and Australian writer and is the author of over 40 books for children and young adults. She has won a number of national prizes, including the NSW, Victorian, South Australian and Queensland Premier’s Literary Awards.
Ursula has written some of our favourite picture books, The Terrible Plop and Too Many Elephants in This House, which have both been adapted as successful stage productions.
Her Aussie Nibbles book that we are going to be reading over the next few weeks is called ‘Fairy Bread.’ In this story Becky only wants fairy bread at her party. But there’s so much left over and she won’t throw it out… I wonder what she is going to do with it all???
